Is it time to get MP3?
Your computer has been playing music for years, one CD at a time. Now hundreds of songs can be stored in your PC if they’re in the MP3 format.
What is it?     MP3 can compress(壓縮) music into small computer files. You may download MP3 music several ways. Music can be downloaded from Websites that have turned wide music libraries into MP3. Once MP3 music is on your PC's hard drive, you can play it through your computer's speakers, “burn” it onto blank CDs or swap(交換)MP3 files with friends using e-mail.
How much? Software needed to play and turn MP3 music is often free. Compact portable MP3 players start at around $40 and can hold hundreds of songs. A blank CD on which you can record music costs about a dollar.
Advantages (優點) Mp3 turns your home PC into a jukebox(自動唱片點唱機). Small MP3 players are the size of a deck of cards, making it easy to take hundreds of songs with you.
Disadvantages You may find that some Websites only allow you to listen but you can't download music. Others let you download music but can't be copied to MP3 players. And a growing number of new CDs makes it impossible to copy songs to a computer.

This story is about a king and his close friend. The friend had a habit of looking at everything that happened in his life and saying, “This is good!”
(    )50   (    )51   (    )52   (    )53[A]    As he returned home, he remembered his friend. He went to the jail at once to speak with the friend. “You were right,” he said. “It was good that my thumb had gone.” Then he told the friend what had just happened. “I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad of me to do this.”  [B]    One day the king and his friend went to hunt. The friend did something wrong and shot the king. The king lost his thumb.(拇指) The friend said as usual, “This is good!”      [C]     About a year later, the king was hunting in a dangerous place. Cannibals(食人族)caught him. They tied him up and were going to set fire to him. But when they found that the king lost a thumb, they let him go. They never ate anyone that was less than whole.   [D]   “No, this is not good!” the king became angry and sent his friend to jail(監獄).
“No. This is good!” his friend answered, “What do you mean? How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a year?”He asked. “If I had not been in jail, I would have been with you.”said his friend.

One basic way of improving your memory is to use the link method. If you want to memorize something, you must make a “picture”. If the picture is silly, strange and colorful, you will remember it better. For example, I’m trying to remember the word “smiles”. An easy way to do this is to imagine there is a “mile” between the first letter and the last letter. This makes it the longest word in the world!
        MILLIE
Memory is connected with our feelings. For example, if someone says “This is a spider,” and then puts a large spider on your hand, you will probably remember the word “spider”! When some dramatic things happen, we usually remember them well, and we also remember where we were and what we were doing. For example, 98% of older people in the USA can remember where they were when they heard about the death of President John F Kennedy in 1963.
What method did the writer use to remember the word “smiles”?
        __________________________________________________________________
What did Millie mainly talk about in her article?
        __________________________________________________________________
What happened to John F Kennedy in 1963?
